A SHORT, MEANINGFUL BRAND MELODY

Ravensburger is a leading German games maker, producing puzzles, games, and activity products in Europe. Their mission is to deliver "Playful Development" built around fun, education, and togetherness. Over 10 years’ working with the client we have created over 200,000 sounds for their award-winning Tiptoi. Our deep relationship with the brand and its products meant we were fully immersed in Ravensburger’s sonic DNA when they asked us to create a simple but meaningful audio logo.

A LAYERED APPROACH

This familiarity with the brand let us reverse engineer the process. The sound signature had to capture the feeling the brand evokes and its promise, signified by the blue triangle logo. We set out to capture the essence of the brand’s inner voice in a 1.5 second soundscape. This led to a haptic approach with a digital edge, created from layers of sound. We embedded the clear organic piano melody into an emotional electronic ‘ramp’ that expressed the brand’s values in a simple sonic structure.

CREATING A PORTAL FOR THE SONIC IDENTITY

This bold signature created the roots of a holistic sonic ecosystem. The blue triangle’s strong, independent melody, built around a unique rhythmic structure, needed to be easily reproduced and quoted in different contexts across analogue and digital media. In effect, we created a portal from the sonic logo that opened up the sonic identity. This creates a subtle link with different products on demand, without overwhelming their unique soundscapes – particularly important with established products like Tiptoi.

SEAMLESS APPLICATION AROUND THE WORLD

The audio logo is a successful sign off in games and commercials. The portal approach we built into the sonic identity makes building sound identities for new and existing toys and games simple. As a result, they all instantly feel part of the Ravensburger family.
