Wilde Kerle (The Wild Soccer Bunch) is a German kid’s animation series with 26 episodes over two seasons. Produced by ZDF and Wunderwerk, until today it is broadcast on ZDF, KIKA and ORF (Autstria) and distributed internationally. This was a real-time collaboration and co-creation with the director Mike Maurus. First, the Novo Sonic team worked with Mike to establish the musical spirit and tonality of the series, which led to the composition of the main theme and all the incidental music for each episode.
The director wanted the music to be an intrinsic part of the storyboarding process, so our music was shared with the animators to inspire them as they created each scene. This process embedded the feel of the music, its rhythms and moods, into every moment of each episode, allowing the audience to connect on a deeper level.
