THE ART OF ADAPTATION

Adapting cartoons for the German market requires a special approach to ensure the result is authentic to the original and believable for the toughest of all audiences - kids. Clarence, a Cartoon Network series with music at the heart of its storyline.

TRANSLATING FEELING AND EMOTION

Working in collaboration with the producers, we were responsible for song dubbing and composing over 100 pieces for 130 episodes over 9 seasons. Staying true to the musical language, with its complex pieces and structures, was challenging. Vocal casting for the music and dialogue elements of the series was also part of our brief. And we worked as vocal coach to the voice artists who played the main characters.

To meet the high expectations of the audience, we went further than just translating the dialogue and song lyrics. Our approach brought the emotion and deeper meaning of the original into the German versions, making the show a hit with German kids. The show was nominated for an Emmy. In 2014 and for a BAFTA, with 2.4 million viewers in the first year alone.

CAN YOU FEEL IT?
