Alape manufactures sanitaryware from glazed steel – a unique combination of materials that combine form and function in beautiful, precise and durable products. With craftsmanship and soul in each piece they produce by hand, the client wished to translate these characteristics into a sonic experience for their international trade stand and brand portal.
To identify the brand’s inner voice, we visited Alape’s production facilities, to listen carefully to the sounds of traditional craftsmanship at its purest and to record it. We even pressed our ears to the sinks to absorb their elemental sound, which also helped us craft a new sonic language for the brand. This was condensed from over 200 sound elements captured in over ten hours of recordings and samples. Every sound in the finished piece originated in these recordings.
The brand’s new sonic signature focused on precision craft and premium design. We then applied the principles of the sonic DNA we discovered to the bespoke music composed for the trade stand to create a deeply immersive sound experience. This perfectly captured the essence of the brand’s identity, which were woven together with a design concept that visualised Alape’s brand portal, creating a multimedia experience that gave visitors to the stand a real feeling for the brand.
